Labor Day reminds us to pause and honor the work of our hands. But long before there was a holiday, there was a rhythm woven into creation itself. God worked for six days, speaking the world into being, and on the seventh, He rested. Not because He was tired, but to set a pattern: Work is good. Rest is holy. Scripture teaches us the value of diligence, but God also commands rest. Not as a reward for exhaustion, but as a reminder that we are His. Sabbath is not a suggestion, it’s a gift. So this Labor Day, may we celebrate our calling to create, to build, to serve. And may we also embrace the gift of rest.
